From my early student days at Cambridge, I have been in love with Edmond Rostand's dazzling tour de force and masterpiece, his romantic drama Cyrano de Bergerac. In the late 1990s, basking in the success of Jekyll & Hyde, Frank Wildhorn and I started discussing what our next collaboration would be. I decided it was now or never for Cyrano. We decided to roll the dice. All these years later, this wonderfully lyrical piece has finally come to be.
